Brandi Watts is a Dallas native and a proud graduate of Dallas Independent School District. After graduating from the University of Texas at Dallas, she discovered her passion for education while volunteering at a Dallas middle school. She went on to serve as a classroom teacher for ten years, initially working with students with special academic and behavioral needs, and then teaching mathematics and the college preparatory course AVID (Advancement via Individual Determination). Brandi served as an instructional coach for teachers and led schools through critical academic and cultural transformations as an academic facilitator.
Brandi believes that educational achievement gaps stem from gaps in access and expectations and therefore engages educators and school leaders in self-evaluation around issues of diversity and equity. She also trains school staffs to conduct relationship-building home visits as a best practice for developing partnerships between schools and home. Brandi works to elevate the voices of teachers and families in support of progressive education policies and inclusive practices.
